Uruguayan Writers and Copyright

Over one hundred Uruguayan writers joined a copyright protection campaign with the aim of opposing a new bill that modifies the law currently in force on the subject and authorizes copies of works for educational purposes.

These writers claim that if the bill (which has already been approved by the lower house) is passed into law, writers, musicians, and other artists will not be paid the only compensation they receive for their work, and at the same time there will be no improvement in the situation that libraries, teachers, students, and the general population are in now.
